Languages and Cultures

Picture
Our community is a population of children and parents seeking to not only have their children well educated but to represent our country throughout the world as they reach adulthood.  In order to reach that goal, the students need to have a content rich curriculum that will include science, and both World and American History.  The students who will be working in a global world, need to have an understanding of American customs and language and also common world knowledge.  Discovery Community School students will benefit from offering foreign languages at school due to the rise in inter-world relationships and the need for students to be exposed to global languages in this modern age.  This will prepare students for the global world they live in.  Core Knowledge is a multi-cultural approach to learning so fits extremely well with a population that wants their children to be prepared to enter into a global world.

We feel offering multiple foreign languages will be in demand in the global world we live in. We believe that giving our students the opportunity to enrich their education at Discovery Community School will enable them to enter a global world.  In addition to Spanish language, we will also be offering after school program an introduction to many different languages such as: Greek, Hebrew, Indian, Assyrian, French, Persian, and Arabic.  It is very important for the students to have cultural exploration experiences and to learn about other nationalities.  This will improve the future of our nation in terms of relations with the world.  These languages will be instructed before or after school per the registration of parents and students.
